Kia ora! I’m Deb!
I am the Youth Workplace Opportunities Broker with the Youth Employment Plus – Rotorua team.
I believe that Youth are our future and my passion is supporting our local rangatahi.
Everyday I get up and know that I can make a difference for young people through encouraging employers to create an opportunity in their business to engage a young person and support them into employment. Will your business be my next success story?
Having walked 12 Rotorua marathons – that is from Government Gardens all round Lake Rotorua back to the Energy Events Centre – I am passionate about being ‘trim, taut and terrific’….. that requires focus on what I eat ‘as energy in (put into my mouth!) and how much I exercise (energy out!) Walking is a daily habit for me…I have done aerobic classes, gym routines and walking is the least expensive and most accessible exercise where you put on a pair of walking shoes and put one foot in front of the other. I encourage you to give it a go…. You will be amazed at how much happier and healthier you are.
My ‘empathy’ is my super power…… I ‘feel’ your pain of being under-utilised, with energy to burn and disappoint of not being appreciated for what you can offer as productivity to an employer. My 5 year career as the ‘Employability Co-ordinator’ for our local tertiary provider “Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology” and my 12 years as a Bank Manager and Financial Advisor, provides me with incredible relationships with local employers and business owners. I am the ‘connector’ between you and these employers. There are employers waiting for my call to connect you for an interview.
Be part of the new way we do business in Rotorua….. Put your hand up to be willing to get your hands dirty with ‘shovel ready’ projects, agriculture, horticulture and forestry……or develop new skills by signing up for radio, television or barista courses being offered by awesome Youth Navigators at our Rotorua Youth Centre to be job-ready…..
“Happiness is an inside job!” Happiness is not where or when; it is here and now! I am responsible for my own happiness.
